7AM Photo Walk Along Pescara Beach
with the Sony RX100 VII

A quiet morning, 5 kilometres on foot, a compact camera in my pocket and another reminder that photography can be just as good for the mind as it is for the portfolio.

There's something about getting out at 7am with a camera that completely changes the way I start the day. This morning I headed back down to Pescara Beach with the Sony RX100 VII in my pocket and covered just over 5 kilometres along the coastline.

These walks have become one of my favourite daily routines. It's not just about taking photographs anymore. I'm getting exercise without really thinking about it, enjoying the warmth of the morning sun, clearing my head and simply slowing down enough to notice what's happening around me.

Every morning is different. The light changes, the sea changes, the people change and there's always something new to photograph if you're prepared to slow down and really observe. I honestly find these walks incredibly therapeutic.

"Sometimes the best photographs come simply from giving yourself permission to slow down."

The Sony RX100 VII continues to impress me. It's one of those cameras that's so small there's never an excuse not to carry it, yet every time I import the RAW files I'm reminded just how capable this little camera really is.

Once I got back to the apartment I imported everything into DxO PhotoLab 9 , where I edited the entire series using the X Pan Black & White Profile. I absolutely love the cinematic look it creates. Removing the colour allows the light, textures and shapes to become the real subject of each image.

I think that's why these walks have become such an important part of my routine. They combine exercise, creativity, mindfulness and photography into one simple habit. Whether I come home with one photograph I love or twenty, it's always time well spent.
