Why 7Artisans Interests Me

Not Every Lens
Needs To Be Safe.

Sometimes I don't want another perfectly corrected, enormous premium lens. I want something small, interesting or simply different enough to make me shoot differently.

I've spent most of my professional career using lenses because they were dependable tools for a job. Commercial photography demands consistency, autofocus, controlled rendering and very few surprises.

Personal photography can be completely different. When I'm travelling or shooting street work, a compact prime or an unusual focal length can sometimes be more enjoyable than a technically perfect lens that weighs twice as much.

That's what I find interesting about 7Artisans. The range gives photographers access to everything from inexpensive manual-focus lenses and fisheyes through to modern autofocus glass, Leica M lenses and dedicated cine optics.

I wouldn't suggest buying a lens simply because it's inexpensive. I would look for the focal length, rendering or shooting experience that adds something your current lenses don't already give you — and then check the code before paying full price.

Current Lens Range

7Artisans Is No Longer
Just Manual Focus

The current store covers considerably more ground than the brand's early reputation suggests. You can now shop autofocus, manual-focus, Leica M and dedicated cinema lenses from the same manufacturer.

Autofocus

Modern AF Lenses

The autofocus range now spans APS-C and full-frame lenses, including compact everyday primes as well as faster portrait and telephoto options.

Browse Autofocus →
Manual Focus

Creative Manual Glass

Still the part of the range many photographers associate with 7Artisans: compact primes, very fast apertures, fisheyes, ultra-wide lenses, macro and more unusual optics.

Leica M

M-Mount Lenses

7Artisans also makes full-frame Leica M-mount lenses, including fast 28mm, 35mm and 75mm options alongside more compact specialist designs.

Cinema

Dedicated Cine Glass

Purpose-built filmmaking lenses give 7Artisans another identity beyond stills photography, including current manual-focus cine focal lengths and full-frame PL options.

A Better Way To Choose

Start With What
You Want To Shoot

Rather than starting with the cheapest lens or biggest aperture, I would decide what is missing from your current camera bag first.

Everyday / Travel

Small & Useful

If you want something that actually stays on the camera while travelling, start with a compact 24mm, 35mm, 40mm or 50mm-style focal length rather than buying for specifications alone.

  • Travel photography
  • Street photography
  • Walk-around shooting
  • Compact camera setups
Creative / Manual

Something Different

A fast manual prime, fisheye or ultra-wide lens can change the way you approach a subject and make more sense as a creative second lens than another conventional zoom.

  • Fisheye perspectives
  • Fast-aperture primes
  • Experimental photography
  • Slower manual shooting
Film / Production

Build A Cine Kit

Filmmakers should look beyond the photographic catalogue and compare 7Artisans' dedicated cinema options when repeatable manual focus and rig-friendly handling matter.

  • Manual focus control
  • Cinema-oriented ergonomics
  • Multi-lens production kits
  • Full-frame cine options

Where 7Artisans
Makes Most Sense

The appeal changes depending on whether you want convenience, character, experimentation or a lower-cost way into a new kind of lens.

Street

Street Photography

Compact primes and manual lenses can work well when you want a smaller camera, deliberate focusing and a less conspicuous setup.

Travel

Travel Photography

Small APS-C and full-frame primes can make much more sense in a travel bag than another large professional zoom.

Portrait

Portraits

Fast autofocus and manual-focus primes give you several routes to shallow depth of field, compression and subject separation without immediately moving into premium pricing.

Film

Filmmaking

Dedicated cine lenses make considerably more sense for video rigs than trying to force photographic autofocus lenses into a completely manual production workflow.

About 7Artisans

From Budget Primes
To A Wider Optical Range

7Artisans says it was founded in 2016 and now positions itself as an optical-imaging company involved in design, R&D and manufacturing rather than simply a low-cost lens label.

01 / Expansion

Autofocus Is Now A Major Part Of The Range

Current products include APS-C autofocus primes and full-frame options extending from wide-angle lenses through to fast 85mm and 135mm glass.

02 / Still Creative

Manual Lenses Haven't Disappeared

The brand still offers unusual focal lengths, fisheyes, very fast manual primes and compact lenses that make experimentation accessible.

03 / Beyond Stills

Cinema & Leica M Broaden The Appeal

Dedicated cine optics and a separate Leica M range make 7Artisans relevant to very different photographers and filmmakers rather than one narrow budget category.

7Artisans Discount FAQ

Before You Buy

What is the 7Artisans discount code?
My current 7Artisans code is SS7ARTISANS. Use the official-store links on this page, add your chosen product to the basket and enter the code during checkout where applicable.
Where do I enter SS7ARTISANS?
Enter SS7ARTISANS in the available promotional or discount-code field during checkout on the official 7Artisans store.
Can I use SS7ARTISANS on sale items?
It depends on the individual product and promotion. Some already-discounted products may not accept an additional code. Add the item to the basket and test SS7ARTISANS to see the final checkout price.
Can the 7Artisans code be combined with another promotion?
Promotion stacking is controlled by 7Artisans and may vary. The checkout total is the best way to confirm whether SS7ARTISANS can be combined with another current offer.
Does 7Artisans make autofocus lenses?
Yes. 7Artisans currently has a growing autofocus catalogue covering both APS-C and full-frame systems, including wide, normal, portrait and telephoto focal lengths.
Does 7Artisans make full-frame autofocus lenses?
Yes. The current official range includes full-frame autofocus lenses such as 24mm F1.8, 35mm F1.8, 40mm F2.5, 50mm F1.8, 85mm F1.8 and 135mm F1.8 options, with mount availability depending on the individual lens.
Does 7Artisans still make manual-focus lenses?
Yes. Manual-focus photography remains an important part of the catalogue, including compact primes, fisheyes, ultra-wide lenses, fast-aperture optics and other specialist designs.
Does 7Artisans make Leica M lenses?
Yes. 7Artisans has a dedicated Leica M collection with several full-frame M-mount options, including compact and fast-aperture lenses.
Does 7Artisans make cinema lenses?
Yes. The official store has a dedicated cinema-lens range alongside the photography lenses, including current manual-focus cine products and full-frame options.
Are 7Artisans lenses good for street photography?
Some are particularly interesting for street photography because of their compact size, unusual focal lengths or manual shooting experience. Autofocus lenses are also now available if speed matters more than deliberate manual focusing.
Which 7Artisans lens should I buy first?
I would start with the gap in your existing kit. For everyday shooting, a compact 35mm- or 50mm-style prime is the safer choice. For experimentation, look at the manual-focus ultra-wide, fisheye or fast-aperture options. Filmmakers should compare the dedicated cine range.
Is 7Artisans the same as SevenArtisans?
The official brand styling is 7Artisans, although product descriptions and search results sometimes spell the name out as SevenArtisans.
