Own non-commercial work
Designed for hobbyists, students and individuals publishing personal content. It includes music and SFX plus clearance for one YouTube channel, but not client or commercial brand work.
Soundstripe review · music, SFX and stock video licensing
Soundstripe gives creators subscription access to production music and sound effects, with stock video on Pro Plus and broader plans for businesses and enterprise distribution. The useful part is speed—but only when the chosen licence matches who owns the project, where it appears and whether it promotes a client or brand.
Simon’s review
“A music library is valuable when I can find a credible track quickly and know the licence fits the edit. The search result is only half the decision; the intended distribution is the other half.”Simon Songhurst · Photographer & filmmaker
Soundstripe appeals because it brings a large searchable catalogue, sound effects and workflow tools into one account. Filtering by mood, genre, energy, instrument and tempo can shorten the first search, while stems on professional plans give an editor more control over how a cue develops.
For my work, the important question comes before download: who owns the finished project and where will it run? A personal YouTube channel, a freelance client campaign, an organisation’s internal video and a national broadcast are not the same licensing use.
Do not assume “royalty-free” means unrestricted. Soundstripe content remains copyrighted and the plan grants defined permission. Check the project type, territory, audience, advertising, client ownership and broadcast requirements each time.
The individual plans
Designed for hobbyists, students and individuals publishing personal content. It includes music and SFX plus clearance for one YouTube channel, but not client or commercial brand work.
Designed for an individual professional making commercial digital work for clients, with up to five cleared YouTube channels, client Content ID tools, stems and workflow features.
Adds access to Soundstripe’s stock video catalogue, with resolutions from HD through 8K where available. It follows the individual Pro licensing use rather than becoming an organisation-level licence.
Beyond individual creators
Built for nonprofits and small businesses creating commercial content for a local market, with team seats and organisation-focused licensing. Confirm the market and distribution limits.
For brands, agencies and media companies needing broader or national/global distribution, broadcast and streaming coverage, custom terms, team access and stronger legal protection.
One-track licences offer Personal, Digital, Expanded and All Media coverage. This may suit a specific production better than an ongoing subscription when use is clearly defined.
Quick plan comparison
| Need | Likely starting point | Check before licensing |
|---|---|---|
| Personal social or hobby video | Personal | No client, brand promotion or paid commercial use; one YouTube channel clearance. |
| Freelance client digital work | Pro | Who owns the project, digital advertising use, client clearance code and channel registration. |
| Stock footage plus audio | Pro Plus | The required video resolution, individual-versus-company ownership and final distribution. |
| Small organisation, local market | Business | Market definition, users, in-house ownership and any distribution outside the covered area. |
| National, global or broadcast | Enterprise or All Media | TV, radio, OTT, theatrical, territory, term, paid media and contractual indemnity needs. |
A clean licensing workflow
Record the project owner, client, platforms, advertising, territory and expected distribution. If the use changes, reassess the licence before republishing.
Allowlist eligible YouTube channels or generate the relevant client clearance codes under the plan. A claim can still appear if the clearance workflow is incomplete.
Download and retain the proof of licence with the project records. Licence content for new projects only while the subscription is active.

No. Current unlimited plans provide music and sound effects, while stock video is specifically included with the individual Pro Plus tier and may be available through customised Enterprise arrangements.
Soundstripe currently positions Pro for individual freelancers creating commercial digital projects for clients. Personal does not cover client or brand work. Organisations and broader uses may require Business, Enterprise or an appropriate single-use licence.
Current individual plans include YouTube clearance, but the number of channels and client tools varies. List the eligible channel or use the correct clearance process so Content ID claims can be released.
Projects correctly licensed and created during an active subscription remain covered under the applicable terms. You may not use downloaded content in new projects after the subscription ends.
Subscribers can use content in multiple projects while their subscription is active, subject to the plan and terms. Generate and retain appropriate proof of licence for each use where needed.
No. Soundstripe content is copyrighted. Royalty-free licensing means the permitted use does not require ongoing per-use royalties, provided you follow the licence scope and restrictions.
