Why Desktop is different

Dehancer without Lightroom, Photoshop or another host

Dehancer Desktop is designed as a standalone photo application. You can bring images directly into the app, organise them into Projects, work across a horizontal Filmstrip and apply the Dehancer film-emulation tools without loading a plugin inside another program.

RAW converter

Normalise exposure and white balance, protect highlights and prepare the file before the film treatment.

Filmstrip + Projects

Apply a look across a body of photographs, then fine-tune individual frames while keeping the series together.

Batch export

Export a current image, a Filmstrip or a whole Project — useful for travel sets and photo essays.

Why I like the idea for travel + street

A film-first workspace can make sense when the project is about a body of photographs

When a project is primarily about photographs rather than heavy retouching, a dedicated film-first environment can be refreshing. A travel story can stay organised as a set, receive a consistent base treatment and still allow individual frames to be adjusted as the light, location or subject changes.

Choose Desktop if

  • You want a standalone film-emulation workflow.
  • You value Projects, Filmstrip editing and batch export.
  • You do not need Photoshop layers or a large catalogue tool for this stage.

Choose the photo plugin if

  • Lightroom Classic or Capture One already anchors your catalogue.
  • You want Dehancer to remain one step inside a larger workflow.
  • You regularly move between retouching and film finishing.
Buying decision

$13/month Photo plan or $449 lifetime Desktop?

Dehancer Desktop is included in the current Photo and Photo & Video subscriptions. Dehancer also currently lists an individual Desktop lifetime licence at $449 for two seats.

The lifetime option is cleaner if you know you only want the standalone app for years. The Photo subscription is broader because it also includes the photo plugins, iOS photo and Dehancer Online.
